The Sovereign Fund of Egypt and Bidayat Misr launched a project to revitalise Bab al-Azab, transforming it from a dormant asset into a
vibrant creative hub that reconnects the Salah al-Din Citadel with its urban surroundings while preserving its cultural heritage.
Consultant Selection & Briefing
Selected local and international consultants, defined their scope of work, and provided detailed briefings, including the development
of the project organisation chart, management process, and communication plan.
Project Management Framework
Established the project management
framework, prepared periodic status and
progress reports, maintained logs and registers,
organised meeting agendas and contact
reports, conducted follow-up calls, and ensured
the issuance of compliance certificates.
Strategic Proposal & Risk Assessment
Developed and presented a strategic planning proposal and an impact assessment report, including a comprehensive definition of
risks and opportunities, to the permanent committee at the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
Consultant Deliverables Oversight
Managed the deliverables of eight local and
international consultants for the regeneration
studies of Bab al-Azab, coordinating efforts
to develop the masterplan, building blocks,
feasibility study, transportation and traffic study,
conservation and urban planning study, and
infrastructure study. This comprehensive plan
aimed to transform the area into Cairo’s first
integrated Creative District.
Masterplanning & Interpretation Reports
Prepared a masterplanning brief document, an interpretation planning and site presentation report, a project bibliography, and an executive summary of all previous studies, highlighting
key learnings.
Business Case & Visual Presentation
Created a comprehensive business case document and a walkthrough video presenting the conceptual masterplan to project stakeholders, featuring a visual representation
of its look and feel accompanied by a detailed narrative.

Adaptive Reuse Concepts
Developed 23 original concepts for the adaptive reuse of spaces, encompassing food & beverages, retail, handicraft workshops, educational facilities, entertainment venues,
cultural hubs, and visitor attractions.
