The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), is the largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilisation.
2017 – 2022
The Government of Egypt required a sustainable business model and operational structure for the GEM that would eliminate reliance on government subsidies, while ensuring long-term financial stability and success for its operation.
Public-Private Partnership Model
Spearheaded the creation of a Public-Private
Partnership (PPP) model for the management
of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), to
ensure its long-term sustainability and success
GEM–Pyramids Integration Strategy
Recommended the integration of the Great
Pyramids of Giza and the GEM into a unified
destination, to create synergies, facilitate
seemliness operations, and eliminate the need
for government subsidies.
Consortium Pre-Qualification
Pre-qualified as a founding member of Hassan Allam Holding consortium bidding
in the international tender for the Facilities Management and Operation of the Grand
Egyptian Museum Complex.
Cultural Consultants Coordination
Researched, selected, briefed, and coordinated the scope of work and deliverables of the international Cultural Management consultancies who joined the Hassan Allam
consortium during the pre-qualification
phase of the tender process.
Successful Bidding on Content & Strategy
Developed original content for the Destination Management Plan and the Marketing Strategy modules of the tender submission, and advised
on the successful bidding strategy.
Pre-Opening Advisory Support
Provided advisory and technical support services
related to setting the operation of the GEM
during the pre-opening and opening stages of
the museum
Project Company Structuring
Developed the organisation structure, roles
and responsibilities of the project company
established by Hassan Allam Holding to run
the facilities management and operation of the GEM
Hospitality Department Setup
Set up the Hospitality Department and coached
its leadership team throughout the mobilisation
phase to develop the operations manual,
hospitality facilities, financial model of guided
tours, tourism stakeholder engagement and
the curation of the visitor path.
